For this course Aaron Comess, drummer of the legendary Spin Doctors, brought in files of 4 original songs of himself and played along to them in our studio. After each song Aaron explains the different grooves and time signatures. Furthermore there are 3 short segments, in wich Aaron and Dirk are talking about practicing, sounds and preparation. Last but not least: two great Solos by this sympathetic Rockstar. Enjoy this great drummer!

Gorilla - big fat rock tune from Aaron´s album "blues for use" The A part starts with big and pounding tom-groove in 4/4 and always has a 3/4 bar at the end. The B part has a driving quarter note snare beat that leads into a..you know what? find out yourself and have fun ;-) Rock it!

Past Present & Future - filigree instrumental in 7/16 from the album "beautiful mistake" The subdivision on this one is: 1 2, 1 2, 1 2 3 and the sticking is almost like a paradiddle. The vers groove is based on a turkish rhythm, Aaron learned years ago in the New York based Big Band "the Istanbul Orchestra" ..very cool groove, have fun with this one!

The Beast - from the upcoming Aaron Comess album "Sculptures" The subdivision on this track is rather complicated and also sounds odd, when you listen to it the first time: 3 3 4 , 3 3 4 , 3 3 6 But in the end it all sums up into 32 and that basically fits in  to a normal 4/4 bar ..have fun with this one and buy the record!
